MTT 2023-24 Application Information
Master Technology Teachers (MTT) is a professional learning group that focuses on integrating emerging and innovative technologies into the classroom. It is facilitated by the Alabama Technology in Motion specialist in cooperation with UA Instructional Technology faculty.
The goal of MTT is to take teachers who are already comfortable integrating technology to the next level! It is not designed for those with novice technology skills due to the requirements of the participants.
In this professional learning group, teachers:
-Discover techniques to integrate technology and Digital Literacy & Computer Science effectively.
-Create technology lesson plans, activities, and projects to be used in the classroom.
-Observe and discuss technology-integrated lessons taught in actual classrooms.
-Provide support and encouragement for other professionals who want to integrate technology into their lessons.
-Collaborate on the design and delivery of the Tech Meet Tuscaloosa Mini-Conference (TMT).
-Produce and present a session at TMT to demonstrate newly gained skills as a final project for the PLG.
MTT meets 4 times during the school year. Three of these are during the school day with the Inservice Center as the funding source for subs. The fourth meeting will take place after school in late spring as a showcase and prep time for TMT. The dates for the 2023-2024 year are:
Meeting Dates:
November 7, 2023
December 7, 2023
February 7, 2024
The Following Two Meeting Dates will be determined during Meeting 1:
April After School Meeting TBD
Tech Meet Tuscaloosa TBD
Five elementary teachers and five secondary teachers will be selected to participate. The original design for MTT as started by UA Professor, Dr. Vivian Wright, over 20 years ago, was for teachers who worked with an intern from UA to participate to grow instructional technology knowledge for both the teacher and intern. Therefore, teachers who work with interns (UA or UWA) will be given priority in the application process.
The application will open on THURSDAY, AUGUST 31, 2023, and will close on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2023, at 4:45 PM. Notification of acceptance into the PLG will be sent on or before MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2023.
